About the Abbyloopers FoundationThe purpose of The Abbyloopers Foundation (TAF) is to provide information to the general public and health care professionals regarding the procedure of Transabdominal Cerclage, a specialized, relatively rare procedure for the treatment of premature delivery due to the condition of Cervical Insufficiency. Abbyloopers began years ago as a few women found each other online, looking for information regarding Transabdominal Cerclage. What started as a few friends initially emailing each other in an email "Loop", was soon moved to Yahoo Groups, becoming managed by one of the original members, Michele Arick. Thus, www.abbyloopers.org was formed and continues to grow as members become supporters and advocates of TAC. The Abbyloopers Foundation (TAF) was established in January 2007 and is currently in the process of obtaining it's non-profit status. TAF provides a great resource in which to obtain peer support, information and physician referrals for women who already have or need this type of cerclage. Many women have been told that they will never be able to have children due to a shortened and/or damaged cervix, either a result of congenital reasons or past surgeries on the cervix itself. The majority of members have lost or nearly lost precious babies due to experiencing failure of the most common cerclage available, Transvaginal Cerclage, and have benefited from Transabdominal Cerclage in subsequent pregnancies. Transabdominal Cerclage and the skilled physicians who perform this procedure have allowed many people to obtain their goal of having a family. The Abbyloopers Foundation will soon be organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes as a non-profit tax-exempt organization incorporated in the state of Iowa in accordance with section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of the United States. How you can help: Please consider joining us in this important cause by becoming a participating member of the Foundation. Foundation members are actively working to spread awareness of Transabdominal Cerclage throughout the world. If you are interested in joining the Foundation please send us your request for membership. With your help we will help educate and lead women and their families to physicians who are properly trained in this specialized procedure. Objectives:To raise awareness about the Transabdominal Cerclage as well as educate, support and refer prospective patients to doctors who are skilled in this procedure. Contact us:
